Full Product Description

This recall involves the Overarching Floor Lamp distributed by West Elm. The lamp has a polished nickel base and curving arm, and was sold with a linen shade in a choice of three colours: natural, white and charcoal.
Hazard Identified

An electrical short-circuit can occur in the lamp's wiring, posing a shock hazard to consumers.

The firm is aware of at least 39 reports of short-circuits in the lamp in the United States where about 5,750 units were sold, including three reports of shock, one report of a minor burn to a consumer's finger, and two reports of minor property damage. The firm is not aware of any reports of incidents in Canada.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents injuries to Canadians related to the use of these affected lamps.
Corrective Action

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected lamp and return it to West Elm to receive a refund.

Number Sold

Approximately 143 units of the affected lamps were sold at West Elm stores in Canada and 8 units were sold through the West Elm website.
Time Period Sold

The affected lamps were sold from March 2011 to November 2011.
