Full Product Description

This recall involves Coleman, Coleman Evcon and Red T brand furnaces which are silver in color with white access panels.

Recalled product can be identified by the brand name located in the middle of the front access panel in addition to one of the below model numbers listed on the nameplate.

Hazard Identified

The furnaces can overheat causing the heat exchanger to crack, burn-through and in extreme cases cause furnace wrapper burn-through. This can lead to heating and possible burning of the drywall and other combustibles adjacent to the furnace, which poses a risk of significant property damage, personal injury or death.

The firm has received a total of 393 incident reports. Five of these reports occurred in Canada.

Health Canada has received no reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these furnaces.
Corrective Action

Consumers should immediately stop using the heating functions on these furnaces until they have been inspected and repaired.

Approximately 2,373 recalled furnaces were sold in Canada; approximately 223,627 units of the recalled furnaces were sold in the United States.
