Ice dam basic !
Ice dam only occur in climates where snow accumulates on roofs.There are most common on the lower edge on roofs,around chimneys and near party walls . The ice dam is caused by heat escaping from the house ,and melting the snow on the upper parts on the roof .This melted snow re-freezes when it gets down to the colder eave area where there is no heat lost.
