Dehumidifiers

Full Product Description

This recall involves the following two Whirlpool branded dehumidifier models sold exclusively through Canadian Tire retail stores:

* 25 pint: AD25USV & AD25GUSW

* 35 pint: AD35USV & AD35GUSW

Hazard Identified

An electrical failure in the dehumidifier's circuitry can overheating, posing a fire hazard.

Kelon has received seven reports of dehumidifier electrical failures that resulted in fires, smoke damage and minor property damage. However, no injuries have been reported.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these affected dehumidifiers.
Corrective Action

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dehumidifiers, unplug the unit and contact Kelon to verify if their dehumidifier is included in the recall. If the dehumidifier is included in the recall, Kelon will coordinate a repair with the consumer. Consumers should not return the recalled dehumidifiers to the retailer where purchased as retailers are not prepared to take the units back.
